“To Kill A Mockingbird”, one of the most famous and widely-read American novels, is a personal favorite of mine. It’s one of those books that I read back in middle school, and have reread every few years since.
So I was excited to hear about the purported biography of author Harper Lee, “The Mockingbird Next Door” by Marja Mills. However, since it’s publishing date was announced, Harper Lee has repeatedly spoken out against the work and its writer, resenting her intrusion into the Lee family’s lives. In spite of that, or perhaps because of that, myself and many other fans are sure to eagerly delve into the work. For those of you looking for a first glimpse, the Huffington Post has posted an excerpt, available here.
P.s. Vulture provides additional perspective in an in-depth piece on Harper Lee and her hometown of Monroeville, Alabama – “The Decline of Harper Lee.”
